When Sheffield resident Trent Gifford left for work in the early morning hours of Sept. 26, 2015, he had no idea his life would change forever.
Gifford, 27, was a passenger in a single-car rollover accident that morning.
“We were like bowling balls, rolling around hitting a concrete wall of dirt,” Gifford said.
He broke his neck, back, legs and arms in the crash and was life-flighted to Des Moines. He was in a medically induced coma for days after, and when he woke up he was paralyzed from the waist down.
“I was very limited in what I could do,” he said.
From Des Moines, Gifford was sent to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.
